A family day out around the Rocks
Looking for a day out that appeals to both young and old? Hiking, Prehistory, a gourmet lunch and a break facing the Rocks: follow our family getaway idea to discover the Grand Site in a different way.
Morning — A small adventure, grand landscapes
The secrets of La Roche de Vergisson
We start the day with a family hike on the trails of Roche de Vergisson. The path winds through the forest and limestone landscapes. With a bit of luck, some goats might make an appearance along the way.
As you gain altitude, the landscape gradually opens up. And then, a surprise: the Roche de Solutré appears before you.
A hike to get some fresh air, exercise and feast your eyes.
Lunchtime — A table to recharge
Lunch at the Auberge des 2 Roches
After the walk, it's time for lunch. At the Auberge des 2 Roches, we settle in, relax, and take the time to share a meal.
Simple and generous cuisine for a real break before heading out to explore the region again.
Afternoon — In the footsteps of early humans
Let's head to the Museum of Prehistory
A change of era! At the Museum of Prehistory, children follow in the footsteps of the horse hunters who frequented the Roches thousands of years ago.
With exploration kits and bags, you can observe, manipulate, search, and deduce. It's another way to discover prehistory and understand why Solutré and Vergisson have been inhabited for millennia.
Afternoon tea — Facing the Rocks
One last moment before going home
To end the day, head to the Bistrot Suspendu for an ice cream or a cold drink with a view of the Roches.
A full day, without rushing. Just enough time to enjoy.
