Prehistory to discover

La Roche de Solutré is a mecca of prehistory. Under the Roche de Solutré, at Crot du Charnier, as early as 1866, pioneers of archeology unearthed the remains of very ancient human occupations. Acquiring great fame among researchers, the site has become the reference for a period of Prehistory: the Solutrean. This cultural period corresponds to the Last Glacial Maximum, in the middle of the Recent Paleolithic, approximately 24 years ago.
