An immersion in the landscape and history of the Grand Site de France Solutré Pouilly Vergisson! During the ascent, several breaks punctuate the climb to better understand the site (formation of the landscape, richness of the fauna and flora). The students set out to discover the traces of the past and present, left in this landscape, by the animals and humans who accompany its evolution.

How to move around in nature using natural elements? How to find your way in nature? Students learn how to read a map and use a compass. The objective? Prepare to take on the challenges of a treasure hunt: observe the landscape with your senses, use a weather vane and a sundial to orient yourself in nature, build a shelter in case of rain or even… use a compass to find treasure!

Raise students' awareness of field archeology and post-excavation. Throughout this workshop, the student puts himself in the shoes of an archaeologist in order to understand this complex profession which
allows you to “read” the secrets of the past buried beneath the earth.

Address the evolution of Man and his environment. During this workshop, students notice that our evolution is not linear. Rather, it takes the form of a complex bush. Changes in the environment and climate during prehistory play an important role in human evolution.

What were the activities of prehistoric men, women and children on the Solutré site? Throughout this workshop, the student puts himself in the shoes of one of our prehistoric ancestors in order to immerse himself in his way of life. In half a day, the class will experience the daily life of a group of hunters who came to the foot of the Roche de Solutré in the Paleolithic and understand why they settled there.
